Definition
Spanish cultural studies is an interdisciplinary field of research and academic inquiry focused on the critical analysis of the cultures, societies, histories, and identities associated with Spain and, often, its broader global connections, particularly with Latin America. It investigates a wide range of cultural practices and products, including literature, visual arts, film, popular culture, media, and social phenomena, employing diverse theoretical and methodological approaches to examine power relations, representation, historical context, and the formation of national and transnational identities within and related to the Spanish-speaking world.
